Otaghake Geli

Otaghake Geli is a 2025 Iranian war-drama directed by Mohammad Asgari with production by Davood Sabouri. The film is rooted in historical events. The narrative combines the sweep of war with intimate human stories. A key thread is the protection of inhabitants of the rural village of Shiyan (or the Shian area), where a group of fighters set out to defend villagers from attack and sacrifice themselves in the process. There is also a personal dimension: the film’s producer is portrayed (or based on) a soldier who takes part in the rescue of a young girl trapped in a “clay cabin.” This rescue mission becomes a focal point for themes of love, sacrifice, duty, and emotional cost in wartime.

Stylistically, reviewers have praised The Clay Cabin for its strong performances, compelling character-portrayals, and blending of epic war action with human drama. It avoids many of the clichés of war movies by grounding its scenes in local life before the conflict, developing a poignant contrast when violence intrudes. The film has won several accolades, including awards at the Fajr Film Festival for best first direction, resistance genre, and special jury prize.
