bache mardom

bache mardom is a moving Iranian social drama directed by Mahmoud Karimi. Set against the backdrop of modern Iranian society, the film follows a group of teenagers who grew up in state welfare centers and are suddenly forced to face adulthood after leaving institutional care at the age of eighteen. With no stable family support and little protection from society, the young characters struggle to build independent lives while confronting poverty, exploitation, loneliness, and the pressure to survive in an unforgiving environment.

The story is told through an emotional and human-centered perspective, focusing on themes of identity, belonging, and resilience. As the protagonists attempt to create a future for themselves, they encounter both compassionate individuals and people eager to take advantage of their vulnerability. The film highlights how a single mistake or moment of desperation can dramatically alter the course of a young person’s life.

Praised for its realistic storytelling and strong performances, the movie combines social criticism with heartfelt drama. It received significant attention at the Fajr Film Festival, earning awards for screenplay and debut direction. “Children of the People” presents a compassionate portrait of forgotten youth searching for dignity, hope, and a place in society.
