Hamsaye Shoma Zohre

Hamsaye Shoma Zohre is an intimate and suspenseful portrait of urban isolation and quiet resilience. The story follows Zohreh, a modest, soft-spoken woman who moves into a new apartment complex on the outskirts of Tehran. At first, her presence seems unremarkable — a polite greeting in the hallway, a distant smile in the courtyard. But as subtle incidents begin to disturb the building’s calm — a missing package, a broken mailbox, a strange noise at night — whispers spread among the neighbours. Each resident sees a different version of Zohreh, shaping her identity through gossip, fear, and projection.

As tension builds, Zohreh’s loneliness deepens. Her attempts to connect are misread, and her silence becomes an empty canvas for the community’s paranoia. The film uses long takes, natural lighting, and minimal dialogue to create a haunting sense of realism, reflecting the unspoken codes that govern social life.

Through Zohreh’s eyes, the audience confronts themes of suspicion, gender, and the fragile balance between truth and rumor. Your Neighbour Zohreh ultimately asks: what happens when perception replaces reality — and when a woman’s quiet existence becomes a mirror for society’s hidden anxieties?
