Dooste Man Bachan

Dooste Man Bachan is an Iranian social drama that explores childhood innocence, cultural identity, and the unexpected power of friendship. The film follows a young Iranian boy who becomes fascinated with Indian cinema—especially the legendary Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan. Through pirated DVDs and colorful movie posters, he immerses himself in a world far removed from his modest surroundings, finding comfort and inspiration in the heroic characters portrayed on screen.

Set against the backdrop of everyday life in Iran, the story gently portrays the boy’s struggles with family expectations, economic hardship, and social limitations. His admiration for Bachchan becomes more than simple fandom; it represents hope, resilience, and the dream of transcending borders. As he attempts to imitate his cinematic idol, both humor and tenderness emerge, highlighting the contrast between fantasy and reality.

The film offers a subtle commentary on globalization and the emotional connections that art can create across cultures. With natural performances and a warm, humanistic tone, My Friend Bachchan celebrates imagination as a means of survival and self-expression, reminding viewers that heroes can live not only on distant screens but also within the hearts of ordinary people.
