Ahmad

Ahmad is a historical drama that portrays a critical and often overlooked moment in Iran’s contemporary history. Directed by Amir Abbas Rabiei, the film centers on the immediate aftermath of the devastating 2003 Bam earthquake, focusing on the first 18 hours following the disaster.

The narrative follows the real-life figure Ahmad Kazemi, a high-ranking military commander, as he takes swift and decisive action to organize rescue operations. Faced with chaos, damaged infrastructure, and thousands of injured civilians, Ahmad mobilizes resources and transforms Bam’s airport into a vital hub for emergency evacuations. His leadership enables the rapid transfer of tens of thousands of wounded victims, highlighting both the urgency and scale of the crisis.

Rather than presenting a purely biographical account, the film emphasizes themes of sacrifice, responsibility, and collective resilience. It blends personal determination with national tragedy, illustrating how individual courage can influence the outcome of large-scale disasters.

With a tense, time-sensitive structure and a focus on realism, Ahmad offers a gripping portrayal of heroism under pressure, while also honoring those who contributed to saving lives during one of Iran’s most tragic natural disasters.
